How we list dental practices
This page explains how every listing on dentistbelfast.com is produced, so you can judge how far to rely on it.
1. Discovery
We collected dental practices from Google Maps searches covering Belfast and surrounding areas, then merged duplicate listings of the same place. This gave 216 distinct places.
2. Exclusions
15 places were excluded, leaving 201 included records: 6 because Google categorises them as something other than a dental clinic (for example a laboratory or a school), 5 after a manual check showed they are not dental practices, and 4 that Google marks as permanently closed. A practice marked permanently closed is always excluded. 0 practices Google marks as temporarily closed stay listed with a notice.
3. Individual dentist listings
Google lists some individual dentists separately from their practice. Where one shares an address with a practice, we show the dentist on the practice page instead of creating a separate page (15 listings). One individual listing with no address is not shown.
4. Where a practice is placed
A practice is placed in an area by the postcode district or town in its own listed address. We do not place a practice in an area because a search near that area returned it. We have not yet checked each practice's map coordinates against an official boundary.
5. What we show for each practice
- Address, phone, opening hours: from Google Maps. Hours are shown only when Google gives a complete week. 144 of 156 listings have hours and 152 have a phone number.
- Treatments: from the practice's own website where we could read it (102 listings), or from the practice's Google category or attributes. Text from a website shared by several branches is labelled as the group's and is not counted for an individual branch.
- NHS status: shown only when the practice's own website states it (39 listings), labelled "as stated on the practice website". It is not proof the practice is accepting new NHS patients. Ask the practice.
- Fees: shown only when the practice states them on its own website (26 listings), in the practice's words. We never estimate prices.
- Google rating: the rating and number of Google reviews, with the date we checked. We do not hold or quote review text.
- Google review topics: Google shows short topic labels on some listings. We hold them but do not show them yet, because we have not finished checking which labels are fair to show. They are not reviews.
- Team: names and roles exactly as the practice states them on its website. We remove registration numbers and do not verify qualifications.
6. What we do not do
We do not verify practices, hold registration details, accept reviews from visitors, or rank practices. Lists are alphabetical. We do not sort or filter lists by Google rating.
6a. Listings we do not give a page
A practice gets its own page only when we hold at least three pieces of real information about it (for example a phone number, a full week of opening hours, a Google rating, a website, treatments listed on its own website, or access details). Places with less appear as a plain-text line on their area page, with no page of their own (23 places). We also left out 6 Google listings that are not dental practices, such as a dental laboratory and teeth-whitening businesses. We do not list or describe non-dental treatments such as injectables or skin treatments, even where a dental practice also offers them.
7. How fresh is the data
Listings were last checked between September 2026 and October 2026. Each listing shows its own date. Hours, phones and closures change, so call the practice to confirm.
8. Corrections

Frequently asked questions
Where does the data on each listing come from?
From each practice's Google Maps listing (address, phone, hours, rating, categories and attributes) and, where we could read it, the practice's own website (treatments, team, fees and NHS wording). Each profile shows the source and the date it was checked.
How are closed practices and non-dental places handled?
A practice that Google marks permanently closed is always excluded, and 15 of 216 places were excluded in total, including laboratories, schools and other non-dental businesses. Temporarily closed practices stay listed with a notice.
Why do some practices have no page of their own?
A practice gets a page only when we hold at least three pieces of real information about it. 23 places with less appear as a plain-text line on their area page instead.
How current is the information?
Each profile shows its own "last checked" date. Opening hours, phone numbers, closures and NHS arrangements change, so confirm with the practice before you visit. The data is re-checked in refresh cycles, not live.
Do you accept payment for listings or rankings?
The methodology describes how listings are produced and sorted: alphabetically on area pages, or by the review count you choose on the home page. We do not rank or recommend practices and we do not describe any paid placement.
